If you are not enamored with the clubbing and dance scene, check out some of the live music venues that are available in Atlanta. In Decatur, Eddie's Attic has been a popular spot for singers before they've made it big. John Mayer and Shawn Mullins have both played here. Variety Playhouse in Little Five Points also has a lot of decent bands as well. For an ultra-posh experience head to Opera nightclub in the heart of Midtown.

Both offer a tropical atmosphere to get your groove on. The DJ spins a variety of top 40 music at both of these venues. If you aren't into the scene and just want to dance your heart out, head to the Masquerade or MJQ Concourse. Here, dance the night away without the worry of being hit on. Masquerade also features and upstairs spot for concerts. If you are more into the live music scene vs. Acts are a wide variety of genres. There is no smoking inside the entire building. However, they do provide a Smoker's alley outside. The Variety Playhouse is a combination theater and nightclub.

Seating at Variety Playhouse features a mixture of theater-style seats, tables and chairs and dancing and standing areas. The capacity varies depending on the seating configuration. All of the shows are general admission. For many of the shows, there is limited seating along with standing areas. The under 21 crowd definitely love to play here.

In the warmer months, Eddie's deck is a great place to get a little fresh air.

There's even a roof top deck. Those wanting to take a break from the music can head across the hall to the pool room. Cover charges vary depending on who's playing.
